Mixing encrypted and non encrypted disks in the same system

""You can't mix encrypting and nonencrypting drives in the same platform" is well understood.  All the disks in our 2 shelf 48 disk V3250 system are NSE disks.....however....

We wish to dedicate 3 disks on each shelf for Ontap OS, in their own aggr.  With the remainder (minus hot spare) for data.

We do not wish to encrypt those disks.  This is due to recent experience with a Ontap upgrade on this system (thankfully not yet in service) that ended up with us locked out of all disks, meaning Ontap would not boot.

In order to de-risk future upgrades, the operational team team would prefer to have the OS on unencrypted disks.  Still NSE disks, but not actually encrypted.

Is this possible ?

Thanks !
