I am new to all netapp topics =) So I got a lot of questions but one of the topics that is very important at the moment is "Storage Efficiency"
I administrate a nSeries 6040 with ONTAP version 8.1.2P3. Most of the aggregates are nearly full... and doesn´t fit into the preferred size of a fillrate of 80% ....
Then I started a dedup process on 16TB vol with a fillrate of 99%. I read somewhere in the internet that it´s recommended to have at least 1 % free space.
After the scan was done my free seems to be space gone :O ... I saw that fast enough to stop the sis process. I guess the system was building the index table.
I extended the vol with around 800 GB and started the process again. It is scanning at the moment.
But who can tell me exactly how that process works and if the 800 GB are enough?
