I work at a major University in the north of England and am interested in joining a local "relatively" active NetApp User group to increase my product knowledge, learn new skills, offer and be given advice and generally see what other organisations are currently doing with their systems. Currently I manage a pair of clustered FAS3240's that host our live data which is then snapmirrored across to our DR SAN for backup. We're using Ontap 8.0.5 (7 MODE) and I don't seem to have much time to investigate new features and feel this would help a lot.
If anyone can point me to a local group I would be very greatful, also if anyone can offer any thoughts / suggestions or recommendations on NetApp training I would love to hear from them. I attended a basic course about 7 years ago with fast lane but was quite disappointed as the remote filer (VPN link) kept failing. I would like to do a course that is accredited but don't want to waste money if there are a bit naff.
I'm happy to have a chat with you regarding NetApp's advocate program, it might be a good fit for you. Send me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you're interested.
