We have a Old NAS in house with dual controller running Data ontap version 7.3.6
We are planning to upgrade to FAS 3220 series that comes along with ontap version 8.1x 7-mode and migrate all volume to new NAS.
We test volume snapmirror between the two simulator(V7.3.6 32-bit Volume to V8.1 64-bit Volume) ,it’s work.
After break snapmirror replication relation, volume on new NAS(8.1) will convert target volume to 64-bit in background.
But we don’t want to upgrade volume to 64-bit at this time(for performance issue,we have to plan another downtime for 64-bit conversion )
I know I can create a 32-bit Volume on a 32-bit aggregate.But my New 3220 has only one aggregate and It’s 64-bit already.
Q1: is it possible to create a 32-bit Volume on a 64-bit aggregate? I read command reference guide cannot find any option.
Q2: can I delay 64-bit conversion and keep target Volume in 32-bit status?
Q2:Is it possible to create first aggregate in 32-bit mode if I re-initialize my FAS3220
thanks in advance.
