What are the best rpactices for ensuring optimum Oracle performance when configuring volumes from a shared aggregate?
Should Storage Efficiency and thin provisioning be enabled, or will it impact Oracles performance at any point?
I have two Oracle environments (one physical and one virtual) and the physical environment points to volumes created on the NetApp. Unfortunatly the physical (prod) environment is considerable slower in i/o response then the virtual environment that has storage served from a different block storage array.
My NetApp aggregate 'aggr64_1' has 26 physical drives and 76 volumes defined, it is 60% utilized, and is configured with RAID-DP.
The Oracle data volumes are 250GB each, thin provisioned, with storage efficiency turned on.
