My understanding is that WAFL uses a 4K logical block size. If that is the case, then is it true that a V-Series will always write in 4K blocks to a 3rd party array when writing to an aggregate composed of 3rd party array LUNs?
I am interested in this because I have not found a documented recommendation from NetApp for the Page Size on our Clariions write cache. The Clariions write cache is currently configured to use 16K pages which I believe to be ideal for Oracle clients directly attached to the Clariion (Oracle using a 16K block size). If the NetApp is writing 4K blocks to our Clariion and the Clariion's write cache is configured to use a page size of 16K, then we are wasting 12K of write cache for each write from our NetApp. If possible, I'd like to align our Clariion write cache page size with our NetApp block size as our NetApp is the only thing using the Clariiion.
