I am trying to setup integration between Operation Manager and SnapManager for SQL. I configured Snapdrive using "sdcli dfm_config" :
C:\Program Files\NetApp\SnapDrive>SDCLI.exe dfm_config list
List of DFM Servers
HostName : XXXXXX
UserName : XXXXXX
Port : 8088
Protocol : HTTP
The operation completed successfully.
Now, when I launch the "Configuration Wizzard" in SMSQL (v5.2), I see the "Data Protection" setting on the left panel, but I am never redirected to it. When I click on "Next" button in the "Snapinfo Settings" screen, I am directly redirected to the "Database Migration Settings" screen. (see screenshot attached).
I thought this was due to a bad licensing, because here is the only license I have in DFM:
# dfm license list
Feature License Code Serial # Expiration
---------------- -------------- ----------- -----------
core TFFTVQRAYGDCMA 1-50-107969 18 Jan 2038
But, I am not sure of that.
Do you now what I missed in my configuration to have the "Data Protection" screen disabled in the wizzard ?
You might find this KB useful:
Step #6 under "Prerequisites for Datasets:"
Log into the Operations Manager server and check that Protection Manager has been licensed using the
dfm license list command.
dfm license install <license-key>command.
You can find the Protection Manager Master License Key at the following link. NetApp is providing the following master license keys as part of the Data ONTAP® distribution to all customers.
If the config wizard continuously skips the "data protection" screen then SnapDrive is unable to communicate to the DFM/UM server using the settings provided via sdcli. If you are certain they are correct then there might be a firewall preventing communication.
This can be confirmed by reviewing the DFM audit logs and the SnapDrive debug logs - I suggest that you open a support case for assistance.
You were right. It was an error with SnapDrive that could not communicate with DFM server.
I had this error in SnapDrive debug log file:
Dfm.cpp@638 DFM Zapi failed to connect to the DFM server 'XXXXXXX'.
I changed my login and password to "root" account and it worked.
I now have to see why my previous login/password is not working.
Thanks for the help.
