We have RHEL 5.8 with SnapDrive 5.1 as guest in VMware vSphere 5.1 environment. When we try to attach RDM LUN with SnapDrive we got error:
"Failed to export LUN *** on storage system *** to the Guest OS. Reason: Failed to Reconfigure VM ***.
On VMware side we got error:
Failed to power on scsi0:1.
Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.
Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/volumes/5107c66d-a1dbc32d-8313-e41f131e9418/SRVFASDBT/SRVFASDBT_SMVI_192.168.107.33_AvGRR.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
VMware ESX cannot find the virtual disk "/vmfs/volumes/5107c66d-a1dbc32d-8313-e41f131e9418/SRVFASDBT/SRVFASDBT_SMVI_192.168.107.33_AvGRR.vmdk". Verify the path is valid and try again.
There are no snapshots in VMware for this virtual machine. If we manually attach LUN over RDM it works ok and SnapDrive can create snapshots on it etc. If we try to run 'snapdrive snap connect' command for cloning with FlexClone, it actually creates clone of volume, maps LUN to correct igroup, but then fails with error mentioned above. User which was logged to vCenter with 'snapdrive config set -viadmin' is in administrator group.
