I am new to Netapp configs and am looking for some guidance or best practices concerning aggregate deployment and RAID groups. I know RAID-DP will have to be used but was wondering if I am missing something that I need to think about when doing this deploymernt.
Ok here is the kit list:
1 x FAS2240-2
1 x DS4243 disk shelf
24 x 600Gb SAS disks on the controller
24 x 1Tb SATA disks on the shelf
We are going to be using the Netapp for iSCSI LUNs for VMware, CIFS access for fileserver, Exchange 2010 using SnapManager for Exchange and potentially SQL. My plan was going to be the following:
1) Setup aggr0 on controller A with all the SAS disks (so this will house the root volume as well).
2) Setup 2 aggregates on controller B with the SATA disks (apparently there is a 14 disk limitation on RAID-DP groups with SATA disks)
So we can then say aggr0 on controller A is fast access and aggr0/aggr1 on controller B is for slower access.
Questions I have regarding this are:
1) Is this the best way to setup a Netapp filer that has fast and slow disks?
2) How will this affect things like active/active configuration?
