I'm in the initial planning stages of a project that will involve moving a number of servers to NetApp storage. Among them is a Windows Server 2003 x86 box running SAP Business One on SQL Server 2005. In order to protect that SQL 2005 instance, I plan to install SMSQL. However, in addition to SBO, there is a backend for a banking client on that server (actually server back-end for banking clients on users' PCs), which uses MSDE. I don't need to protect it with SMSQL, but in the past, I ran into the issue where if there is an SQL Express instance running on the server, SnapManager doesn't work until that instance is stopped (removal is not required, stopping is enough). Does MSDE cause the same issue, or can SMSQL simply ignore it? Moving that application to another server is a hassle that I'd rather avoid.
