I'm hoping someone has some advice on how to migrate a volume from one aggregate to another on the same filer head, the reason being as I have added a new shelf.
Is the best way to simply configure a snapmirror to the same filer? If so can multiple snapmirrors be configured from one source?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I always use snapmirror to move hot volumes between aggregates on the same filer and it is a safe process. Only need a small outage for the final cut over, which you can move back to whenever suits the business by just updating the snapmirror. We also have snapmirror to a 2nd site and snapvault to a 3rd. Again it is easy enough to move the volumes within the same filer without breaking these relationships but remember to clean out the unwanted shapshots once you are finished. vol copy also works well but you need to wait for the process to finish copying all the data before you can start using the volume again.
Hope it helps
We have the data on the source filer and snapmirroring this data to destination filer,
based on your reply I can set the sanpmirror on the detination filer to snapmirror between aggregates. This case we have 2nd snapmirror for same data.
So I can switch over the servers to 2nd aggregates LUNS.
I want to know whether we can set the snapmirror from source to two aggregates on the destination filer instead of doing above.
