I would like to use Firefox v4.0 to operate filerview but when I select the filerveiw https link I get the error
Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to FILERNAME
You have received an invalid certificate. Please contact the server administrator or email correspondent and give them the following information:
Your certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authority. Please get a new certificate containing a unique serial number.
(Error code: sec_error_reused_issuer_and_serial)
In IE9 I could just click ignore and continue into filerview but I do not have this option in firefox. Also tested with crome and it allows ignore and continue.
I have tried clearing the firefox cache and "Firefox >> Go to Tools–> options–>Advanced–>View Certificates, there remove the certificates on the “Servers” tab" but the issue remains. But it did not help
The issue is on multiple filers in different data centres. Have issue on the DoT versions
Data ONTAP Release 7.3.5P1
Data ONTAP Release 7.3.1P3
NetApp Release 8.0.1
Thanks in advance for any help you could offer.
I vaguely remember seeing the same issue already discussed on Communities, but cannot find the thread at the moment.
The problem is that FF doesn't like the fact that all NetApp filers use the same serial number in the certificate, so as long as you are managing no more than one head from the same browser, there should be no error, just warning.
As soon as you try to connect to a 2nd filer head, the error appears & if memory servers right, there is no workaround to dodge this.
One more thing though:
It bit me as well when I was using FF4. I can't check it now, but I *think* the issue might be gone in FF5.
It would be prudent to report the problem in FF bugzilla to at least make them aware of it. Although loking at this KB: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Certificate%20contains%20the%20same%20serial%20number%20as%20another%20certificate - they probably are aware of it
