Any chance of N-series customers getting access to a tool like this? For those who are unaware, NetApp customers can login to the NOW site and view the information from their Autosupport emails, the message contents get parsed into a nice graphical view with tracking and trending graphs and so forth. Looks like something I'd really like to be using with my N6040's as we're trying to manage rapid systems growth, having access to that much historical information is much better than the weak real-time dashboard included with N-Series System Manager.
One could only wish that IBM would offer such a service. But alas... :-(
I used My Autosupport in the past when I worked with NetApp products, and although far from perfect, it really worked well. But as far as I know IBM doesn't even have plans to offer such a service to it's customers.
Upgrade Advisor - .. when I logged an IBM support call, they offered to provide the upgrade advisor info.. so you should be able to request it. I believe they just get it from my autosupport and email to you.
system visualisations - this is a great way to have your systems documented. Again.. I opened an IBM support call asking for the system visualisations from my autosupport... It took a few emails back and forth but they did manage to eventually send a pdf for each of our nSeries.
Would be really nice to get some insight from IBM on this matter. This is a really nice tool, and it would have shown me that my autosupports actually haven't been going thru to IBM (according to their support folks they've never received one although my mail gateway shows the messages being sent to their email@example.com address).
Well I tried again registering my N-series ont he My Autosupport site, and Netapp insists that I need to speak with IBM for more information. IBM indicated they had access to the autosupport information from the Netapp NOW site, but there was no indication that I would ever be able to access it. Frustrating to say the least. Coupled with very slow support response on an issue we're currently working through and poor experiences with our account management folks when we really needed them on previous issues, I don't think we'll be buying IBM in the future for storage or otherwise.
Check this link out for the equivalent N-series to NetApp system. There is a PDF that will give more info for ALL the N-series equivalents to NetApp systems.
Hope this is what you are looking for.
