Hallo,

I m using a netapp sim on debian lenny.

It s working and I found a script to start the sim when the system comes up.

My question.

What s the right way to to the sim? The script I found kills the processes. That seems to be bit hard.

Thanks for hints.

    Hello,

you can stop the sim with the same command for shutdown a real NETAPP " halt "

      Hi ,

I am also expecting a better to shutdown the sim safely, doing halt is not option if we want to issue shutdown to Linux machine.

How it exactly starts automatically as a service, I would like to see a shutdown script which does it same way.

One method i can think about now is issuing a RSH call to the sim ip to do shutdown. This needs RSH to be enabled for this Linux host. Would like to hear from others if there is a way to do this better.

      Thanks

      Daniel

        Hello,

when you start the NetApp Sim on an linux system, you the two processes running.

        /bin/bash /sim/runsim.sh

        and

        /bin/bash ./runsim.sh -g

The halt command should by entered at the NetApp Sim command line (FASxxx>) not at the linux.

Than the sim goes down an the processes will stopped.

        Regards Thomas

          Thanks Thomas

But what I am interested to  know is there  any alternate way to do the shutdown of sim process other than the halt command .

Similar to Unix service start and shutdown. Because the sim start is registered as service in this case. We want stop also to be same.

          Thanks

          Daniel
