Introducing Fletcher Cocquyt, our latest NetApp Community Featured Member. Fletcher, a VMware Certified Professional, a nominated vExpert for the last two years, a blogger, and a technologist whose work spans systems, network, and storage, currently focuses on virtualization-related solutions. Congratulations, Fletcher!
I have been a technologist for 19 years. My work spans systems, network, and storage and I currently focus on virtualization-related solutions. With a computer science background I enjoy using my analytical skills to break apart nontrivial problems to derive a solution. I’m a VMware Certified Professional and was nominated as a vExpert for the last two years. I’ve been a NetApp Community member since 2008 and have found it an invaluable source of support and discussion. I publish a technical blog at http://vmadmin.info. I’m also a huge fan of NetApp® DataMotion® software, which allowed us to migrate our whole virtual infrastructure (hundreds of running VMs) live with zero downtime (see my blog post: http://www.vmadmin.info/search?q=datamotion).
A Bit About Fletcher and his work with NetApp
This year we made additional investments in NetApp to scale out our storage infrastructure (2 x 2240s, 3250, 50Tb additional storage, and more Flash Cache™ intelligent caching). We demoed six SSD storage startup solutions but ended up returning to NetApp for stability. I believe SSD integration is a huge opportunity for those storage vendors who can implement it well and provide the performance and enterprise reliability we expect. We are excited to watch NetApp aggressively enter the space with new offerings.
Some of Fletcher's Community Highlights
- Partial Writes with VMware ESX Hosts - Helped solve outages due to latency
- vFiler Migration Fails - NetApp guru Adaikkappan Arumugam expertly helped us through several blocking issues
- Migrating a vFiler to a New IPspace - Guru Scott Gelb helped us come up with a plan
Away from Work
Fletcher likes to travel. He visited Barcelona last year and has a ski trip planned to Whistler. When he is not traveling on fun adventures you can catch him mountain biking or watching or playing playing hockey, tennis and golf. Fletcher came to Silicon Valley for a startup and continues to follow the tech startup space for opportunities. His profile picture was taken after a helicopter ride to a mountain peak in New Zealand.
