Introduction to Oracle Database 12c Multitenant Architecture
Oracle database 12c introduces a new multitenant architecture that enables you to easily consolidate multiple databases, without changing their applications. This architecture delivers all the benefits of managing multiple databases as one, but retains the isolation and resource prioritization of each database. The multitenant architecture allows you to have many smaller databases called pluggable databases (PDBs) within a larger database called a container database (CDB). For more information about this new architecture, see Oracle Database 12c documentation.
NetApp Cloning Plug-in for Oracle Database
NetApp and Oracle have collaborated to provide the ability to quickly clone an Oracle Database 12c PDB from the Oracle Database SQL command line. This integration leverages NetApp FlexClone technology which allows you to develop and test applications faster by creating instant, space efficient clones of PDBs that shorten the design cycles and improve service levels. To leverage this integration you must download the NetApp Cloning Plug-in for Oracle Database.
This plug-in supports Oracle Database 12c R1 and later.
Features in Version 1.0
Version 1.0 of the plug-in supports:
