Each year, the SNIA holds a Winter Symposium in San Jose, California, which is a face-to-face meeting of all of the SNIA technical working groups, including the Cloud Storage Technical Working Group that works on the standardization of CDMI.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn more if you're interested in CDMI, would like to learn more about the CDMI standardization process, or would like to get involved. This meeting is open to all participants, but non-SNIA members may participate in only one meeting yearly for purposes of evaluating SNIA membership.
If you're interested in attending, please register online at: http://snia.org/content/snia-annual-members-symposium-registration
In addition to the symposium events, we are also holding an LTFS Tape and Cloud Storage Birds of a Feather event on Monday, Jan 27 at the Sainte Claire Hotel Ballroom from 6 to 7:30 P.M. This event is open to the public and no registration is required.
The BoF agenda is as follows:
As the volume of data moving to the cloud accelerates, tape is becoming an increasingly viable and appealing option for bulk data transport (cloud seeding), cloud-to-cloud data movement, protection storage and high-latency cloud storage tiers. Come learn about the standardization work being done by the Linear Tape File System (LTFS) technical working group at SNIA, in conjunction with the Cloud Technical Working Group to simplify and standardize these use cases, and discuss ways that tape and cloud can work together.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
