NetApp for Life.

Posted by gilda in Absolute Evangelist - Office of the CTO on Dec 15, 2011 8:55:19 AM

After taking a walk around the proverbial block, I have landed back “home sweet home” where I truly belong.   The passion and admiration I have for this company is unsurpassed, and to be an advocate for such a place is not only a perfect fit, but a privilege to execute upon.

It’s been absolutely phenomenal being back at NetApp, the #3 World’s Best Multinational Workplace!  In my new role as an Industry Evangelist in the Office of the CTO, I will be focusing on Standards & Industry Associations and representing NetApp in those bodies.  The  specific areas I will cover include Big Data & Analytics, Ethernet Storage, and open source for Cloud and Virtualization.  The organizations in which I’ll represent NetApp in some capacity will include SNIA and the Ethernet Alliance. I also expect to do some customer-facing briefing in my Industry Evangelist role.  More to come in terms of direction and focus, but those are a few items right off the bat!

The team that I work with are absolute rock stars and it’s been amazing to work side by side with them. NetApp is an active participant in many standards bodies and industry associations, with the goals of driving industry directions, extending our technology innovation into standards, and ensuring that emerging standards meet our business and architectural requirements. We execute these initiatives while demonstrating to our customers and partners our commitment to interoperability and an open systems infrastructure.

The overarching goals of the CTO Office as a whole are to drive innovation and architecture in NetApp's products, foster an organization to develop technical talent, broaden the diversity of ideas, and create an opportunity for increased innovation. The level of talent and expertise that exists in this organization is so immense, and I can’t wait to contribute my everything to this team!
