VTL - Tape Cloning to a remote site

Hi,

Is it somehow possible to clone tapes to a remote site over ethernet? I believe we will have to use FCIP or IFCP to do this.

Regards,

Azfar

Re: VTL - Tape Cloning to a remote site

Hi there

The native protocol for vtape (or even VTL to tape) replication is FC.   I would recommend you work with your local NetApp SE (technical resource) if you wanted to do this over some other IP-based mechanism....I would also recommend you look carefully at the data volumes, available line bandwidth and replication window as well !

Cheers

Mike
